Life isn’t fair. It’s a hard truth we all learn. Whether it’s your brother’s slice of cake being bigger than yours, or your best friend taking credit for a joke you said that made the professor laugh (that one maybe personal), life isn’t fair.

For us, one thing that really isn’t fair is making a judgment about whether or not you’ll come back to church based on anything other than the warmth, love, and presence of Jesus felt at church. Those are the things that matter. Unfortunately, fair or not, people usually make a decision on whether or not they want to come back to church before the service even starts.

If a church appears to be prepared, with people in place to help, serve, welcome, and guide, the impression people are left with is, “This place expected my visit. They’re thinking about me. They care about me. And what they have to offer me is important. Look at all this time and effort they put in to get ready!” I wants us to be a church that isn’t only prepared but appears to be prepared for worship on Sunday morning. I want this because people who don’t know Jesus will willingly shut the door on Jesus if we give them a reason. I also want this because the message we have is that important, and the God we serve is that important.

1 Corinthians 10:31, “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Let’s be a church of excellence for the glory of God. God’s glory deserves our best. It deserves us planning, focusing, strategizing, hustling, and striving. God’s glory deserves our best on Sunday morning.

Thank you for bringing your best to serve. Thank you for helping our church put its best foot forward for everyone who comes through our door that is struggling with their relationship with Jesus. Thank you for taking ownership in this place and stepping up to the call of ministry. Thank you!
