The dictionary defines a gift as, “Something given willingly, without payment.” Sometimes we want to give the gift. When it’s to someone we love on their birthday or Christmas, we desire to give the gift, even though we get no payment in return. Sometimes we feel a sense of duty to give the gift. Sometimes we don’t really want to give the gift but we know we should.
I think sometimes, when it comes to volunteering, we feel all three of these things. We want to out of a passion for Jesus and his church. We feel the responsibility to because we’re a part of this mission. And sometimes, we don’t want to, but we know we should so we volunteer anyway.
I want you to know that whatever your motivation is, this church feels nothing but gratitude towards you. Thank you for serving here. Thank you for being in love with this church’s mission and what God is doing here. But thank you for saying yes, even when you didn’t feel like it. What God is doing here doesn't happen without you! Thank you for volunteering! You are making a difference and we couldn’t be more appreciative!
