Do you ever think Jesus was uncomfortable around someone? I mean, I know sometimes if I’m with a group that I just don’t have anything in common with I get a little uncomfortable. Have you ever been there? You’re not very political but you walk into a meeting where everyone is talking politics. Or you are really political and you walk into a meeting where nobody wants to talk politics. You’re not a chiefs fan and you visit someone from church and their house is top to bottom chiefs memorabilia. Have you ever been around someone and just didn’t feel comfortable? 

       Do you think Jesus ever felt that way? Jesus ministered to so many different groups of people: wealthy, poor, outsiders, sick, women, fishermen, Pharisees, teachers of the Law, Romans, Greeks, prostitutes and sinners. Do you ever think Jesus thought, “This is not going to be a comfortable conversation.”

       Maybe at times, in his humanness, he wasn’t comfortable sitting with a judgmental Pharisee or talking to a prostitute. I don’t know. But what I do know is he did it. His love for them compelled him to hurdle over obstacles of comfort so that he could be with those people.

       Thank you for at times doing something uncomfortable. Volunteering isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Thank you for your love of God, this church, and others, that propels you forward into the uncomfortable position of volunteering at church. We could not do this without you! Thank you!
